The
mountain
Hiroko and Shigeru were at the workshop, and Shigeru was sure this whole affair was troubling her, so he asked, "Are you interested in climbing Mount Taro? There's a cable car service that goes up to this beautiful observatory. We can visit Mountain Bear, you know, he was the one with Aki on that day." Hiroko thought this might be a good idea. Aki was killed at that mountain; she had heard about Mountain Bear but had not met him before. Maybe he could tell her a little about Aki. The bus stopped at the foot of the mountain. They had to walk up quite a bit to reach the observatory. Hiroko felt sad as they trekked their way up. The memories of Aki were too much for her. "Let's forget about the observatory, we can just go and see Mountain Bear." Mountain Bear lived on the foot of Mount Taro and was an avid climber like Aki. He had a great build and an imposing look, thus the nickname. Mountain Bear welcomed them and started to prepare dinner for his guests. He could still remember the events that took place that day. "After he fell, I tried frantically to locate him." And Mountain Bear started singing to them, "My love will flow as the southern wind carries it..." "Is this a song which you mountain climbers sing?" asked Hiroko. It was a song by Seiko Matsuda. "I believe Aki sang this song as he lay on the rocks below us. I heard him," said Mountain Bear. "Maybe Seiko Matsuda was the only person Aki was thinking about at that time," shrugged Shigeru. Hiroko and Akiba decided to stay at Mountain Bear's lodge for the night.
